For those new or unaware, North-central West Virginia Furs (the direct predecessor to Mountain State Furries, Inc.) organized a potluck-oriented furmeet in Morgantown on February 8, 2025. Though technically organized by Sterling outside the scope of the organization, the event was such a resounding success that it deserves some bragging-about.

Out of the fifteen seats available, thirteen showed up. Only two who RSVP’d as “definitely attending” had to cancel last-minute, which is about the rate expected. The meet was originally slated to be at someone’s house with more than enough room for the expected ≈15, but some sudden developments thwarted that plan about a week before the event, leading to my (Sterling) serially calling every hotel in the area. Thankfully, the Residence Inn got back to us with a wonderful deal on a twelve-person conference room. We asked for fifteen seats, and they miraculously made it happen.
I’m not going to give a detailed recap of everything that happened, but just know that the lot of us had a ton of fun eating food and playing party games for a few hours. That out of the way, there’s just one big thing left to discuss.
Financial results 💵
Excluding tax, the cost of the room rental was $150 even, paid up-front by me (Sterling). However, I managed to only recover $105 of that, which is… better than nothing? In any case, it’s clear that, going forward, admission to events like this will have to be paid by each attendee. 100% free, donate-only-if-you-can events such as picnics and photography walks are definitely under consideration for this summer, though, so don’t fret if you’re strapped for cash.
Images!
If you’ve got any of your own, do upload them to our Flickr group! We’re considering some sort of on-site gallery system, inspired by that of MNFurs, but that’s a bit on the back-burner for now. In the meantime, you can request permission to upload to the old Google Drive folder.
